Pretty much every time the San Francisco Giants reach the postseason, they wheel out Huey Lewis and/or the News to sing the national anthem, drawing snickers from everywhere that's not San Francisco. "LOL 1980s much???" tweets the world, blissfully unaware that Huey is the most-beloved San Francisco crooner besides Tony Bennett.
In addition to Bennett, Lewis and the Grateful Dead, there is one other staple that the Giants trot out, without fail, every postseason. That would be representatives of Beach Blanket Babylon, the country's longest-running musical revue. The show features enormous, silly hats. And boy do San Franciscans love it.
During Game 6 of the NLCS on Sunday night, a cast member of the show sang "God Bless America" during the seventh-inning stretch, thoroughly baffling everyone around the world who isn't from the Bay Area.
